Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?
What is Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) is a condition that occurs when the median nerve (which runs from the forearm into the hand) gets compressed or squeezed at the wrist. This nerve passes through a narrow passage called the carpal tunnel, and when the tunnel becomes swollen or irritated, it can lead to symptoms like:
Symptoms
- Tingling or numbness in the thumb, index, middle, and ring fingers, often worsening at night
- Weakness in the hand, making it hard to grip objects
- Pain or discomfort in the wrist, hand, or forearm
- Burning or shock-like sensations in the fingers
- Increased symptoms with repetitive hand movements or wrist flexion
- Temporary relief by shaking or moving the hand
